  1. If it were my choice, I would go with the Miele. All my friends who have the Oreck swear by it though. I find it noisier and it just doesn’t suck up all of the peskie eskie hair as well as the Miele.

  2. I recommend looking at a Dyson. We don’t vacuum in our house anymore, we "dyson." Although pricey, we have never regretted the purchase. Although we do not have pets, we have the purple Dyson (DC 17 – Animal/upright) designed for pet-lovers, as it also helps with allergies. This upright works well on carpets and hardwood floors with a twist of a knob.

They sell canister vacuums as well. If the canisters are anything like the uprights, I would highly recommend them.

  3. I don’t know much about the Oreck, but I have used a Miele at a client’s house (I clean houses), and I sincerely don’t like it. It’s heavy and hard to move around. It’s very difficult to do stairs with. And it overheats fairly quickly so you have to wait to finish until it cools down. At my house, we have a $40 Eureka. It does hardwood and carpet, and it works twice as well as the Miele.

  4. As a carpet cleaner who uses a vacuum on every job I suggest the electrolux but if you can;t afford that one the Miele is your best bet. Have you checked out the Dyson awesome….

  5. I had an Oreck and gave it away; it was useless. I bought a Eureka, which I like. I don’t know anything about Miele.

  6. Both are about $300-$500. Miele is vary well known becasue of their of their canisters. I have an Oreck upright, which people know of, not vary much canisters, and the oreck does a great job. But, Miele also can clean wood easyly, not oreck. I whould get a Miele.
