Thought it was about time I did an up to date video of this fantastic cleaner. I’ve owned this one since 2005, it was originally found dumped in the street and had been out in the rain. It is now my daily vacuum. Even now it never fails to amaze me as to how good it is. Its a testament to Philips and the reliability and quality that used to go into their vacuums. Its a 1984 P79 Computer Control Automatic, and was the top end model with all the fancy features. First, the swivel top which gives a 360 degree turning circle which makes it easy to use for such a big vacuum. Then theres the very 80’s computer controlled power selector with an automatic mode. The automatic mode can be overridden using the pushbuttons but I find it does a very good job at choosing the right power level for the surface being vacuumed. Its also one of the reasons that it has lasted so long, because the motor is rarely used on full power. There is a very Knightrider-esque LED display that shows the power level being used and when the bag is full or the suction obstructed. The best thing about it though, is the extremely quiet 1000w motor. It is actually the quietist vacuum i’ve ever come across, and the video doesn’t really do it justice.
That looks like a very exciting vacuum, upholstery nozzle looks a bit arquard though
