Vacuum Request: Hoover Futura

Here is the requested video of the Futura with special guest, the Dimension. As I said, I would of ran the Dimension to compare, but I’m sure everyone knows how those motors usually sound. Those new fans work pretty good. That vacuum would never pull the carpet off the floor, but with that fan it does. I’m thinking of putting that fan in my Elite 5.0, so that would mean that since the Elite already picks up the carpet, the new fan should make it want to eat the carpet. Even with the origional fan, the Elite still beats the Futura.

  1. Well if that has the normal Elite 7amp motor in then there is a slight difference in sound. It sounds a bit smoother and sounds like it has more airflow. Thanks for the video!

  2. The Elite, Encore, Spirit, Preferred, Runabout by Kmart and Turbo Power 1500 all had the 7.2 Amp motor usually rated with by the Hoover Cleaning Effectiveness Per Amp Rating of 17.0.
The Futura in your video, Dimension uprights, Dirt Sensor, Legacy, Soft Guard, Bagless Twin Chambers, Caddy Vac and some PowerMax series uprights, had the 7.3 Amp motor and Hoover Cleaning Effective Ratings starting at 18.5 ranging up to around 20 with the Soft Guard and Twin Chamber series.
    All nice vacs.

  3. @Termite159 I have 1 idea then, if the rating is about cleaning effectiveness, and my elite 5 and 6 amp kill the 7.2/.3’s in suction and how much they pick up, what should their rating be? I would laugh if it is more than the “bigger” motor. which would show amprage doesn’t mean much.

  4. I used to have that same Hoover Futura. the left one. It was indeed VERY much quieter. I miss it, I gave it to the Vac Shop for a discount on another machine. Great Vacuum definitely!
