Compact and powerful,
First impresssions: looks cute and bright. There are a bunch of attachments which seem daunting at first but there’s not much assembly needed apart from attaching the main hose and whatever attachment you want: crevice tool, round dust brush (curtains, lightweight fabric, blinds, bookshelves, etc.), bare floor brush, hand turbo (upholstery, chairs, durable fabrics), turbo nozzle (for carpet, fluff, pet hair), low profile (for bare floors, low pile carpet, area rugs).
It’s small and light. Good.
There does seem to be a lot of suction power. However, the turbo brush attachment does not seem as powerful as those on upright vacuums. For stairs, you’d probably use the smaller turbo brush. (A commenter says not to push too hard on the turbo. However, it doesn’t seem to pick up some stuff if you don’t. Which is the correct technique?)
It’s got a thermal guard, which powers it off if overheating (in case of blockage, full dust canister, etc.). If this happens, remedy the situation and wait 30 minutes before resuming use. To prevent this, the dust container should be emptied when it reaches the “max fill” line. There is also an indicator which changes to red when emptying is needed. The dust container should be checked periodically for obstructions.
Emptying the container was not as easy as expected. I pressed the clip at the bottom and … nothing happened. I tried to pry it open. Not much success. I may be doing something wrong, but five minutes later, it’s still closed. It shouldn’t be this hard!
UPDATE: got it open, with some force. The next time it opened without any problem. Emptying it showed the problem with bagless vacuums … fine dust lingered around the bottom lid and stuck to the outside of the container via static electricity. If you don’t like this, you’ll need to wipe if off with a damp cloth.
Also, be careful – when you carry the dust container around, and while trying to open it, watch out for the big hole at the back of it! I inadvertently emptied some dust onto my feet and floor through that hole while carrying the container to the trash bin. I don’t know if that’s the normal design for one of these cyclone vacuums, but it seems … unfortunate. One star off for the dust container travails.
UPDATE: armed with this knowledge, the next time emptying the bin was trouble-free.
So – if you want to avoid a mess, be careful while opening and emptying this. If you do make a mess, however, this vacumm will do a good job of cleaning up (again).
Not sure what they mean by “26 feet of reach”. The flexible hose is maybe 5 feet and the wand is 3 to 4 feet tops. Maybe they included the length of the power cord?
The motor protection filter should be rinsed with cold water and air dried for 24 hours when needed.
The main filter should be rinsed from the underside; cleaning agents can be used. Air dry as well.
Be aware: the hand turbo brush is NOT for animal skin rugs or carpet fringes. To avoid carpet damage, do NOT keep stationary when brush is active.
This unit is NOT for use with water.
Pros:
Powerful suction
Small, light
Various tools provided
Bagless with transparent canister – you can see the dirt!
Washable allergen filter to trap sneeze-inducing objects like pollen, etc.
Retractable power cord
Low-profile attachments allow easier reach into lower spaces
Telescopic hose
Cons:
Carpet brush does not seem to have enough brushing power
Not easy to open dust container the first time
Large hole in back of dust container can leak dust while transporting and opening container, if not careful
No storage for tools – have to carry them around separately
Hose is not 26 feet long!
There is another con common to all bagless vacuums. If you have bugs around that you’d like to vacuum, I’m not sure I’d want to use a bagless model. I don’t know how bugs will be, ah, handled, much less emptied out. So on occasion you might want a bag-ful model around, depending on your squeamishness.
In spite of its dust container issues, it’s small and light enough to make cleaning ALMOST fun.
