Love this vacuum!,
The last year or so we’ve been using a much smaller Hoover Flair bagless vacuum, which was adequate for our apartment but never exactly pleasing. The trouble was that for a long while I got used to using a Dyson DC15 animal, the top of the line version from a few years ago. I moved away from that vacuum when I got married, and so know what’s possible.
The Hoover Windtunnel isn’t quite as nice as that Dyson. I miss the ball rolling convenience, and it’s in general, a more heavy duty product. But it’s also quite a bit more expensive.
This Hoover makes a great substitute for a significantly less amount of money, while even adding some extra conveniences.
The suction is great. No problem picking up everything from hair, to spilled gravel, to bird seed spilled on the patio, to… you name it. It gets the job done.
The attachments fit nicely and are quite easy to use. It has a longer reach than the Dyson once everything is attached. It also has a longer cord, and the auto retract mechanism makes me smile every time I use it.
I have very low carpet, so I can’t address what it is like in heavier carpet, though I do note that it recommends nothing higher than an inch.
Some other reviews have noted a strong rubber smell and broken belts. When I first used it there was a strong smell of rubber, but the belt worked fine. The second time, a little less of a smell. And after about the fourth time I used it there was no smell at all. It has worked great since the beginning and I heartily recommend it to those who want a heavy duty bagless vacuum without paying Dyson prices.

Replaced a 6 year old Hoover with this one,
My new Hoover Arrived Yesterday and it was very, very easy to put together just one screw on the handle. It is very light and a very stylish vacuum. I love the cord rewind feature and the cord seems to be longer than my last vacuums cord which is nice. The filter is super easy to remove and rinse. The only issues I have had so far are the container is a little tricky to get back on and it is kind of hard to tell when its on properly. The small roller brush and the clip on attachment are not so great. I had a hard time attaching the small roller brush and getting it to stay so I will just store elsewhere until I need it.
I vacuumed over my 5 year old carpet and can you believe this sucked up fuzz from the carpet??? That only happened in the first year with my old vacuum so this one obviously has a lot more suction power than my other hoover. I have a dog and it got up all the hair off the carpet. I tried it with the roller brush off as well on some tile to see how that worked and so far so good. I did notice that you really need to be careful with the adjustment knob and get that right for your floor otherwise it is harder to push and doesn’t pick up well if it is high. So far it is my new love……..

Works great out of the box,
Just got this today, 4-2-11, from Cosco at $181 including sales tax. They will take if back up to 1 year later if I find out it is junk, so why not give it a try. Hoover’s generally have bad reviews, but then so do most vacuums. This one ran fine out of the box, and assembles in about 3 minutes with only 1 screw to attach the handle. Clip on the attachments and there you go. Like most new vacuums that work out of the box it picked up a lot of dirt from our clean carpet, our 7 year old dirt devil evidently lost a lot of vacuum before the motor went to vacuum cleaner heaven in a puff of smoke. The cord rewind feels stong, but we’ll see how long it last. The carpet height setting seems to be weak, we have low pile carpet, but I had to set the cleaner to the next to highest setting to get the right feel (pushes too hard at lower settings). Works very well on hard floors, and has a foot operated swith to turn off the roller brush on hard floors if you want to. The roller brush also turns off when the handle is put up in the storage position, so if you use the hose attachments, the roller won’t beat a hole in your carpet. Rather than spend my entire budget on a Dyson which from what I’ve read also puts out some lemons, since this model has all the features I was looking for, since it looked a little beefier and more compact than the competition (Bissel, Eureka), since I can return it up to a year from now, it made sense to give it a try. Heck, I can buy 3 of these before I hit the out-of-pocket on one Dyson. I will try to update this review in a few months as to how this non-scientific experiment is working out.
