This repair is required on some Kenmore canister vacuums when a Panasonic (manufacturer of Kenmore vacuums) 3 wire electric hose is used. If you’ve purchased a Panasonic 3 wire replacement hose, and it doesn’t work on your Kenmore canister (make sure your machine uses a 3 prong hose), then this may be a simply fix that will allow the Panasonic hose to be used on your machine. Here is an example of a Kenmore hose manufactured by Panasonic that may have this effect. First you will need to remove the screws from the handle exposing the on/off switch and wiring. Then you simply need to switch the blue wire (currently connected to blue) with the white wire (currently connected to white) so that the blue wire leads to the white and the white wire leads to the blue.
