Kenmore Upright vacuum 116.3937282

The garbage truck was rounding the corner, and so was I, when I spotted this jewel sitting off to the back of a huge pile of trash yesterday. I looked all through it trying to find any sign off attachments, but nothing.. Less than 5 minutes later this machine woulda been a gonner! Here’s another one of those Whirlpool designed vacs. It was filthy dirty and missing the belt entirely. The inner bag must have blown off a long time ago, so the outer bag was about half full of dirt and debris. Sorta has a half hard bag and soft bag design. The MagiCord is in perfect operating condition. A great cleaning, new bag and belt, and new headlights (one was burnt out) were installed to reveal a most excellent vacuum. I use the 18 watt lights rather than the 11 watt, so please excuse the blinding-at-times vid! This unit is in much better shape than my black one, which is my beater vac only used outdoors. Any info on attachments would be greatly appreciated 🙂

  1. Hi, I just picked one of these up myself on E-Bay for $15.00. I am looking for the attachments as well. Let me know if you have any leads on finding the attachments. My vac is in mint condition as well. Cool video.

  2. @vachooverkenmore The same one? You have to do a vid of it. I’m very lucky to have it, it was almost a gonner! I do have a lead for the attachments, but not for sure. I will definitely keep u informed.

  3. @fgbags yes, exact same one. I just don’t have the tools for it either. I will do a video soon. Thanks

  4. @vachooverkenmore Sears had 1 converter (terminal, they call it) left in stock for $15.99, but none of the attachments or the 7 foot hose. I went ahead and ordered it and hope I can come up with a hose and attachments to match up best I can. At least with the terminal I have something to adapt to the machine with.I have another lead on a full original set, though. Still waiting to hear back.

  5. @OHhooverpoof Not at all…It’s the same 7.2 amp motor hoover uses. Same wiring harness for the power switch and headlamps also. It’s like a Concept with the abilitty to use attachments. I actually got a converter from Sears (the only available attachment) and use my Sanitaire hose on and it’s attachments for tool cleaning. Very powerful suction on this upright. I’m gonna do an update to show that pretty soon.

  6. @fgbags Hey I was given this same model from a friend when my old vacuum died. It is awesome. However, the belt has finally broke and I am unable to find what model number of belt this machine uses. Do you have any information, since you had to replace this belt as well? Thanks!

  7. @AzahelFrost Hey there…this was a problem when i got a belt for this one and my black one, but this time I kept the paper with the number on it. It says it’s a “Kenmore 5272 / Fantom Fury” belt. I assume this belt works on a Fantom Fury vacuum, since sears used to sell those years back. Hope this gets you up and running soon!

  8. I remember seeing a vac like this a long long time ago when my mom cleaned houses. Now I want to get myself 1!

  9. @Vacmasterthegreat My big complaint here is the noisy motor. I have a black one also, and it’s noisy too. Otherwise, it works well and I love the headlights, as well as the tool connection.

  10. @fgbags.that is interesting, the dd style 4 are for the fury too. so that means I can use the style 4 on the dd’s,fantoms and one of my kenmores that takes a 5272
