The best Vaccum Cleaner ever made!!!,
I can tell you without a doubt that this is, by far, the best vacuum I have ever used, and I have tried them all. I was a user of the dyson animal and hated it because I hate not having a bag. The dust bin gets disgusting and difficult to clean, so I moved to an Oreck. I loved the Oreck so lightweight and did a decent a job.
Now my friend went to charity auction, and came home with the Miele S7, how weird. But I gave this whirl and omg I was in love. This thing is whisper quiet, you can actually vacuum while a baby is sleeping. The Vacuum Bag holds everything, not a spec of dust escapes, which is perfect because I’m dust sensitive. Finally it really picks up everything, the suction is superb. Oh yea, it’s extremely maneuverable as well.
It is however on the tad heavy side, but only because the build quality is so good. Despite this it is easy to vacuum my entire house without getting tired.
So, unless you need a lightweight vacuum, this is the one to buy! you will very satisfied. I ended up buying one the next day after trying it.

Fantastic vacuum, Miele Jazz,
I’ve had the Jazz for only a week now, but in that time it has exceeded my expectations.
I’ve owned Eureka, Panasonic, Dirt Devil, and Dyson. They died within 3-5 years, or were just ineffective (Dirt Devil was both). Compared to the Miele, these other vacuums sound as loud as jet engines. I find the Dyson DC-14 particularly loud and harsh. The Miele is really quiet (for a vacuum), and the noise that it does make isn’t unpleasant; e.g., it’s not too high pitched or whiny.
Before using the Miele for the first time, I vacuumed the house with my Eureka SmartVac Boss. I know, the Eureka is a non-starter in the world of boutique vacuums. However, I always thought the Eureka did an OK job of keeping the carpet clean on a day to day basis. As you might predict, the Miele picked up a significant amount of dirt and hair that the Eureka had apparently been missing. Looking in the Miele bag, you might guess that the carpet it just cleaned hadn’t been vacuumed in 6 months. Also, the carpet felt softer after using the Miele. The stairs have Berber on them, and the Miele was able to lift the loop-pile back up like no other vacuum has been able to. It wasn’t like the Berber was new again (it’s well worn and crushed down), but the Miele brush brought more life back into these worn stairs than any other vacuum I’ve tried.
The maneuverability of the S7 series Miele is fantastic. The swivel neck is not a gimmick; it really works. It’s so easy to get the unit around corners, and if you just want straight lines that’s no problem either. The Miele’s ability to lay flat is also convenient. Often, however, I’ve found I can’t get too far under something because the Miele is still too tall.
I haven’t used any of the attachments yet, but the hose is sufficiently long for me. A previous commenter noted how she couldn’t get up a full flight of stairs with just the hose. I don’t use the hose that way, so I can’t comment specifically to that point. I just pick the vacuum up and use the main brush on the stairs. In doing this, I don’t find the Miele too heavy, but I haven’t quite figured out how to do this and hold it comfortably. When I do the stairs, I go down backwards. When I did this with previous vacuums, I would always feel a bit of the dirt flying back and hitting my shins. This doesn’t happen with the Miele. The Miele, apparently, seals the vacuuming area well enough so that everything gets sucked up into the bag. This is great when doing hard floors too, and it’s a breeze to switch the brush motor on and off (just flip a switch).
As with one reviewer, I experienced a clicking noise. For me, that was because the vacuum sucked up a piece of hard plastic that got stuck near the roller. I just had to remove it. No big deal.
The brush sensor is a nice feature. This will stop the brush when it senses that something has gotten tangled up. I accidentally sucked up the corner of a dress, but the roller automatically stopped and the dress was not damaged at all. On the flip side, I also ran over the cord and stripped it pretty far down in less than 2 seconds. This demonstrates both how powerful the brush is and how dumb I am. I have run over vacuum electrical cords my entire life, but I’ve never had one stripped by the vacuum brush this quickly or completely (most vacuums I’ve had won’t strip the cord at all, especially not within 2 seconds as the Miele did). That’s a powerful brush.
In short, this is a wonderful vacuum. It does a better job than any other vacuum I’ve owned. I could buy several $300 vacuums over the next 10-15 years, or I could just buy one Miele (I got mine for $599 locally) that will (hopefully) last 20 years, and end up saving money and having cleaner carpets in the process. So, I bought the Miele, and I love it.

I lurve this vacuum!,
I have fallen head over heels in love with my Miele S7! I will keep this as short as I can but I could go on for days. I have owned Kirby and Oreck uprights and Electrolux canisters and while each had aspects I liked, nothing I have ever used compares to the Miele. I’ll give just 2 great examples. 1)The vacuum works so well that my old carpet actually feels new again after vacuuming. You can tell the difference in the pile WITH your shoes on. 2)I have 3, yes THREE, pugs and they have ALWAYS gone berserk every time I vacuum. The barking was like being in kennel but with all the dogs loose so they could also attack you while walked. I used to have to put the dogs outside in order to vacuum which made for only vacuuming in short bursts during the winter. The Miele is like a miracle. They are actually bored and disinterested in the whole vacuuming thing now. I vacuumed all around one of them while he was eating the other day and he never even brought his head out of the bowl. This would have been a beater bar killing offense with my old vacuums. Forget the fact that this vacuum cleans so perfectly, has all the needed tools on board, has a huge dust bag, long supple cord, etc. and on and on, this gorgeous machine has brought peace and harmony to my home. (OK, we still have issues with any delivery person.)
