I need one for my stairs, furniture, etc. I have an Oreck, and I love it, but it doesn’t have the attachments.
I don’t need an upright, just a canister vacuum. Thanks!

Ok well let me just say I have never used a Dyson, so I couldn’t say if that is better specifically. However…..I have cleaned houses for over 13 years now and let me tell you a Hoover……has never ever let me down. I myself prefer a full canister vac. as opposed to an upright, mainly because of your exact predicament….you need it to do floors and drapes and furniture and stairs etc. There are lots of hoovers that have longer hoses on them for longer reaches and they have the retractable cord. Some have a "quick release" to unattatch the carpet piece with the beater bar so it’s much easier. That is my suggestion for you. Good Luck!
Dyson. They’re pretty expensive, but they last for years.
A dyson…no doubt!
I don’t know. If you ask me, they all suck. I will tell you this, I use a 25 year old Douglas, my Mom had a 35 year old Electrolux, and at work, we had a 40 year old Hoover.
Rainbow has the best allergen result in cannister form.
Tri Star has the best cleaning result in cannister form.
Vacuflo has the best contemporary design (home model)
I also have an Oreck…BUT the best canister vac that I have ever had is the plain old Sears…it comes with attachments..has enormous longevity(mine is over 30 yrs old).so check out a Sears brand Cannister,,,,,,,,,,,,
I think the new Dyson vacuums have canister models available, but this is a pricey brand.
A rainbow–its costly but what a great thing!
It will last for you many years!
