I am so happy, I finally did it…I got a Miele Capricorn S5980 with the SEB236 PowerNozzle…This vacuum is awesome…As I have stated previously, I am a canister vacuum fan. I do not like uprights, so it was always my dream to own a Miele. Long story short, I got this for a steal as it’s brand new. A co-worker’s mom used it a handful of times and decided she wanted an upright, so there it was in a closet. I am so happy to have found this deal. My Kenmore Progressive is now on craigslist for sale…lol…I can’t believe how powerful, quiet and user friendly this machine is. I will post another video soon, just wanted to share the good news. 🙂 It really is true about the quality of Miele, next to my Kenmore Progressive, this is a QUALITY Machine!
whats so bad about uprights?
Why is the Kenmore Progressive going on craigslist?
i just got my capricorn last week. i dont know if im being anal, but i hear a soft high pitch noise coming from where the hose connects to the canister. it sound like air escaping. is this sound normal?
@insignia325 Haha, Kenmores SUCK (in a BAD way) compared to Miele’s B)
I have a Miele Silver Moon that I bought in 2001. Miele still makes a couple similar models, but the Capricorn and the other similarly-sized Mieles are basically the succcesors to the Silver Moon (which is actually a light metallic green). It’s been a great vac. The HEPA filtration is wonderful at cleaning the air because it’s a sealed system. All incoming air goes through the bag, a pre-motor filter and finally the HEPA filter. No air leaks through cracks in the housing.
@rank406
May just be the air passing through the hose coupling, but not leaking out.

They are less generally less powerful and limited on how many things you can clean. Canisters like the Miele have all bases covered by offerring different machines and nozzles for just about any floor type. Mine has four different nozzles; a straight suction bare floor/low-pile carpet nozzle, a horse hair hardwood floor brush (my old house was all hardwood flooring), a turbo-power nozzle (for low-pile carpeting), and an electric power nozzle for thicker pile carpeting.
