Getting rid of fleas on wood floors?

So we moved into a new house and it has fleas. Normally I hear you could just fog our sprinkle powder in your carpet. But in our situation the house we bought has no carpet or hard wood floors. It’s just the base boards. We are going to put in hard wood but we’d rather have the flea situation taken care of prior to installing the new flooring. I was just wondering what the best method would be to remove the fleas for good. We tried fogging but it didn’t even seem to slow them down. I was thinking about sprinkling the poison powder directly on the base boards and vacuuming a few hours later. Do you think this would work? Any help would be much appreciated because I would rather not pay someone to do it when I could save money doing it myself. People say it’s easy but these little guys aren’t leaving no matter how much poison I bomb them with.

  1. I have heard if you place a small dish of water on the floor the fleas will be attracted to it to drink and will jump in a drown since they can’t get out.. Never tried it though.. worth a try… ps. the dish has to small enough the fleas can jump into.. ie. a lid from a plastic container…

  2. Go ahead and fog the house. To get rid of the fleas…. That happens sometimes in a new construction. You may need to spray around the outside of the house. Use a bomb specialized for fleas. And maybe set off a few long acting ones under the house.

With your idea, over night is not long enough. There are eggs you probably can’t see and this will hatch later. The long acting bombs will last long enough to kill the new hatch-lings.
