Best upright BAGLESS vacuums?

We are looking for a new vacuum cleaner for the basement. The majority of the basement consists of hard floors – we have a cat, so litter gets everywhere, crumbs, particles from outside, and dust. We also have an entire room with carpet.
We were looking at the Shark Navigator Upright on Amazon, and it’s rated very highly. However when we saw it in person, it looked like a piece of crap – it was very small and didn’t seem to have that much power. Can anybody please tell me more about this vacuum? Or about any other reccomendations for bagless uprights (price range 0-0).
Thanks!
On/Off brushroll is definitely a must.

  1. save ur money till u have enough for either a filter queen or Dyson. I use my filter queen as an air exchanger also. So when someone is sick i can get the germs out of the house fast. Check with them on refurbished machines- mines from 1990 – and still kicking, it uses water to pick up dirt. When i use it for air exchanger i use wintergreen alcohol.

  2. You are not going to get quality in that price range. I would suggest saving up for a Kirby or Rainbow. You will have it for YEARS and YEARS.

  3. You might find a used Dyson, or find one on sale – they are WELL worth the price, and I live in a house that could be a test sight for any home appliance. On the other hand, I have also seen at least one Shark at the recyucle shed per week. Not a good sign.

  4. I am all about Dirt Devil. I have a Dirt Devil Dynamite. It’s a smaller upright. I, too, have a cat and carpeting. It is wonderful and it cost me about $40. It looks like it might not be up to the job, but it is. I love it.

I’m with ya’ about the Shark. Looks cheesy.
