Best Vacuum Cleaner?

I’m looking for a effective lightweight vacuum cleaner that cleans both hard surfaces and carpet floors that is not incredibly expensive. Does anyone have any idea as to where i could find something like this? I was thinking about the Oreck Vacuum cleaner, but I hear they are for predominantly carpet floors and will scratch your hard surfaces. I have no animals in the house. Any feedback would be appreciated.

  1. The best vaccuum is the Dyson but it’s not lightweight, just efficient, you can’t have both. The Oreck is very good but as far as I know it doesn’t have any attachments so is only any good for cleaning floors, it won’t scratch hard surfaces. I use an Oreck when we use a friends holiday cottage and if you haven’t got pet hairs to clean up they are quite efficient.

  2. I personally don’t like Oreck because the bags cost an arm and a leg, and frequently have to be ordered instead of bought from a local store.

So far, I have had good luck with my Bissel upright bagless, which I found on special for about $69. It’s not the lightest vacuum in the world, but it’s not a huge monster either. And it will work on both carpet and hard surfaces.

I understand that Dyson and Rainbow vacuums are very good- but they are also very expensive.

    Good luck!

  3. Oreck by far. very light and efficient.you can use it on any type floor and it does the job. have had hoover, eureka, and dyson.

  4. i have been in the cleaning business for 15 years and i have purchased every vacuum there is out there except the Dyson. but for the money a bissle vacuum with bags is this by far the best especially if you have a lot of dust and trash to be vacuumed. its not expensive and the bag less ones don’t have the power to pull as good as the ones with the bags. if they do break its not a whole lot of money wasted. the only problem since if vacuum a lot of carpet pilings is that it some times clogs up. i just take the hoses off and clean out the clogs and it’ s a powerful suction vacuum.
just purchased a dyson yesterday, payed $429.00 for it, its wonderful especially if you have a lot of fine dust. has a 5 year warranty and never have to replace filters. only used it 2 now but seem to be a great vacuum.
