Best way to clean the Dyson DC17 cyclone component?

Once I empty the clear bin of the debris, I’m left with the cyclone component with all kinds of dirt and dust clinging to it. Can this part be cleaned with water? Are there any electrical components inside the cyclone that would be damaged by water? Are there any filters inside that would need to dry before using again? It just seems to me if all the little holes on this component are plugged up, the machine can’t operate as efficiently. Emptying the canister on this vacuum is a nasty mess if you ask me, lol. I can’t imagine why I switched from one that uses a bag. Oh well….live and learn as my parents used to say. Now I just need to learn how to clean the cyclone part of this monster machine. Any help would be most appreciated.
