  1. Height adjustment raises and lowers the entire nozzle housing up and down. The lower the adjustment the more the brushroll will contact the carpet.

Vacuums work by the airflow pushing particles into the the vacuum bag/cup. If the height adjustment is set too low then there won’t be sufficient room for the air to flow.

If the height adjustment is too high then the distance between the bottom of the housing and the floor is to big and it the dirt won’t be "pushed" into the vacuum.

  2. i believe the high carpet setting is only for carpets with longer fibers which wouldn’t clean well if placed in low carpet setting. think of it like vacuuming grass (i know its a stupid example but makes sense) if you put it on low the grass will flatten out and just get brushed with the brushes on the bottom of the vacuum however, if set to high it would be able to brush the dirt off while sucking it up into the bag, hope this makes sense.

  3. It doesn’t change the suction at all. What it does is raise or lower the back wheels of the cleaner to change the angle of the brushing bar in front and its intensity.

Some vacs work on suction alone with no rolling at all when it’s set to bare floor.

  4. The closer the machine is to the floor, the better suction that should occur. But you have to be careful that you do not set it too low on plush carpet so that the entrance just gets clogged up from the carpet fibers. The most important aspect is the power of the machine itself. If suction sucks (no pun intended) to begin with, the settings won’t make a whole lot of difference.

  5. I would set it as high as possible without loosing any suction.

The higher you set it the easier the vacuum cleaner will glide across the carpet which means less effort for you.

Be sure as mentioned above you do not set it too high of you will loose suction and render your effort useless.

For best results an upright with a vibrating brush or agitator bar will clean your carpets best.

    Good luck
