We have a lot of chairs and obstacles to move around in the kitchen. Never had a canister? would prefer a bagless. We have two pets and the hair output is HUGE!. The majority of the floors is Hardwood., we have clumps of hair everywhere!

Irobot Roomba I have the "Roomba "Discovery" and it is good. It goes under tables, couches and beds to clean where no other vacume can go.
I have 4 cats in my house so I purchased the Dyson DC15 Animal Vacuum and it works wonderfully it is well worth the money spent.
We have two cats and two dogs, and our Orek does a great job on our floors. It is light in weight and is easy to clean around the furniture. It does have a bag, but it is easy to change and filters the air, so it does not put dust back in the air.

Dan
I have a canister vacuum (as opposed to an upright). It’s great for hardwood floors and can get under tables, beds up on the ceiling. I used to have cats and it picked up all the little fur balls.
