Dyson DC08 Telescope Wrap Carpetpro+ Allergy

Dyson DC08T – this differs from the standard DC08 because it features the Telescope Wrap hose and wand, which makes it more compact for storage and carrying around. I’ve had this since new. I bought it about a year ago. It’s pretty good on carpets, but the Turbine Head is poor on laminate, and especially on lino. The Contact Head is best for these surfaces. The Turbine Head uses a clever clean-air design, where the dirt and debris bypass the turbine – this means you don’t risk damaging the turbine when picking up a coin/gravel/ etc. It brings up the carpet pile nicely. This cleaner gets used every day. It gets chucked in the back of my car, crashes around when I turn corners etc, but it’s holding up pretty well.

  1. it does do a nice job pulling up the nap and making the carpet look nice, suction looks good too especially for a canister, we have the dc14, and my whole family loves it, wouldnt have anything else, well, i might have a 1933 model 800 hoover lol

  2. Thanks for this excellent video. Very informative. I used to have a Dyson upright but wouldn’t have another one as I just found it way too messy to empty. I now have a Samsung bagless cylinder which is quieter, cleans well and is easy and clean to empty. I’m thinking of getting a Numatic Henry but don’t know much about them. Do you have any experience/opinion of the Henry vacuum?

    Thanks!

  3. Hi there – the person to ask about Henrys is my friend Ryan – his YouTube account is ‘U5096’. He knows a lot more about them than I do!

I have used several Henrys and other machines made by Numatic – they are very solid, reliable cleaners with good performance, but I personally don’t like the ergonomics of the hose and wands, so I don’t particularly like using them. But others, I’m sure, will feel differently!

  4. It’s air-driven. Although I’m not a big fan of air-driven turbos, I don’t mind this one so much because since the airflow remains constant, the brush doesn’t slow and struggle as the bag fills.

  5. Uprights and cylinders are suited for different uses…I’d guess that the cylinders would be a little more reliable, though, since the motor’s not under the strain of turning a brush-roll…

  6. Do you think this cleans any better than a Dyson upright cleaner? I used to use my DC05 with Turbobrush but the DC05 suction isnt quite as strong. Much prefered my DC04 so went back to using that again. Have you noticed that the bins on Dyson cylinders become a little ‘smoky’ with use from the ‘scartching’ of the dirt inside the bin? This also does happen on some Dyson uprights Ive seen but not as much.

  7. I bought the Contact Head for my DC08T, since I use it primarily for hard floors. The uprights clean carpet MUCH better than the Turbine Head. The Turbine Head is not very good at carpet OR hard floors, in my opinion.

I know what you mean about the ‘sand-blasted’ look the bins develop. From the DC07 onwards, the airflow is so strong, it blasts the grit around the drum with such force it actually abrades the inside and makes the plastic cloudy-looking!

  8. I don’t yet have a DC21 – they perform well, but they’re heavy, and there are aspects of the design I don’t like.

  9. your pre filter needs a cleanl lol!-nice vid i like the dc08t also, the telescopic rap rely helps for storage when you have as many dysons as me L!

  10. i’m gettin this vacuum in a few days , but i’m worried it won’t proform well on carpets… whats your view?

  11. It does ok – but really, for carpet, you need an upright vacuum cleaner, or a cylinder with a power-nozzle, such as the DC23 Motorhead.

  12. The DC08T is a ‘stowaway’ model. The telescopic wand collapses, and the hose wraps around the body of the cleaner to make it compact for storage, as demonstrated in the video.
