Having a Ball: Dyson DC24 & DC25

This is a brief overview of the the two Dyson Ball models, the DC24 and the DC25. I filmed it in response to the MANY questions I receive about these two cleaners – I cover the main points about the design, to address specific issues I’ve been asked about these models in the past. If you have any further questions about these cleaners, please use the comment section to ask them, and I’ll do my best to help! Here’s my full, illustrated review of the DC24 All Floors on my blog: dustfluffgrit.blogspot.com

  1. If you’ve decided on a Dyson, my personal recommendation would be the DC25, or the DC14 Origin – both are great on carpets!

  2. is any other brand better from your opinion for carpeted homes? my gran has the dc14 overdrive, my aunt has the dc25 all floors and i have my faithful dc07 allergy blue/turqouise which is about 6 years old without repairs and works like new.

  3. Motor wattage only tells you how much electricity a cleaner uses, it doesn’t tell you anything useful about how well it cleans.

Most manufacturers are now using ‘airwatts’ as a better guide to how well a cleaner will perform.

The DC24 produces 120 airwatts, the DC25 produces 220. However, pick-up is the same with both models, because the DC24, although less powerful, focusses it’s suction more intensely through a smaller intake.

  4. Clip most useful. Just bought a DC 25 animal, 25% of at Currys. Could not work out how to release extension etc. till veiwing your guide. Nearly purchased purchased the DC 24, luckily went for dearer model.

  5. great video. It was really informative and answered all my questions. My mom has the DC28 Animal, and both she and I love it. Once I saw the Ball, I knew I had to have it. I will go with the DC25. Thank you SO much for your help!! Don’t be self conscious about your voice.

  6. I am planning to buy the DC25 Animal (Purple vac). Hopefully I can save up enough money. What’s your view on the DC25, guys? Be blunt if you want to. 🙂

  7. I just got a DC25 (Blueprint) & the hose difficult. Has a strong rubberband effect. Pulls even by extending a foot. Dyson flys instantly on hard floors to recoil. On carpet like yours, I can’t extend it 4 ft w/o tension & the machine flying towards me. Using accessories is tricky & for ceilings, the pull coupled w/having to hold the handle so high, is quickly tiring. I’ve no idea how you so easily/freely extended that hose. I’m skeptical it’ll break in and be more flexible/giving. Thoughts?

  8. So the Dc24 will pick just as much dirt as the Dc25 although it has 1/2 the airwatts?

Did you notice a difference in suction?

  9. @karunald You’ll find the main issues is the amount of power through the hose – perhaps more than any previous cleaner you’ve used. The pressure of the incoming airflow creates the tension-effect with the hose when the cleaner is running.

I generally keep the cleaner next to me when I’m using the hose, unless I’m cleaning stairs. This also mean the on/off switch falls easily to hand!

  10. @WTFp0s There is a noticeable difference in suction through the hoses of the two cleaners – although the DC24 still has plenty of power for dusting, car-cleaning, etc.

  11. I am considering buying a Dyson Ball and wanted to know the difference between the DC24 and DC 25 – your video was very helpful. Excellent presentation – appreciated the demos and descriptions. Nb We have a very small house so will definitely go for the DC24. Thank you!

  12. You do know that he handle is supposed to turn upside down and go into the hose on the DC24….right? Making it able to go up a full flight of stairs….

  13. I’m aware of that, yes. It adds a little extra reach – but still not enough to clean up a full flight of stairs in any of the houses I’ve tried it in. For that, you need the extension hose.

  14. Love all your video’s m8 we would get on like a house on fire. Have my own Vac repair business in Swansea which most of my repairs are Dysons.
    Cheers Dave

  15. Thanks – I’m glad you like the videos! I’ve been busy with work lately, but hopefully I’ll have some more on the way soon! 🙂

  16. I live in a 3 floor house without pets. Do you recommend the 25 or the 24? I dont mind emptying out the dust compartment often. I only really care about the suction power.
