Im having a problem choosing a new vacuum.?

Im having a problem choosing which vacuum is best for me. Originally i was going to get a Dyson ball (DC25 animal) But then my cousin told me that she was going to get the Shark and that i should check it out. So i watched the infomercial on it and i thought that that one was a possible contender too. Its a lot cheaper and i liked the fact that the canister was removable for vacuuming stairs. So i decided to get on Amazon and check out the reviews on both and decide after which is best based on the reviews from people that have used them, but as im looking on Amazon i see that most of the vacuums on there are 4 stars and have mostly decent reviews, the things that people say for the bad reviews on the Dyson and the Shark are really making me scared to by one for that amount of money. The review on the shark says that the warranty doesn’t cover anything but the motor and that the wheels are made from a cheap plastic and to replace them if something happens you would have to get a hole new power head for 90$ and after shipping and handling it was the price of a whole new vacuum. Then i go look at the Dyson and people say that running over the smallest paper ribbon would break the belt or that cat litter that is clay can clog the dyson up. I have a cat and i use the clumping cat litter and even though his litter box is at the other end of a large room with a hard wood floors it concerns me, specially since it cost SO much. So i guess what im wondering is if anyone has either one of these products and what you can tell me about them? It probably would be best if you have owned them for over several months (cause every vacuum works great when you first buy it). And whatever else you can tell me that would be helpful i would appreciate it. This is a big purchase and i want to make sure i know everything there is to know before i dive into buying something i regret. Please help. Thank you!
"Had a Dyson" doesn’t sound very encouraging and the color of the guys eyes who endorses it isn’t a good enough reason to spend 500$. ANYONE else?

  1. We have a canister vacuum because of low lying furniture. I would prefer an up right as it is easier on your back. I like the dyson or the miele brands.
