Neato XV-11 Unboxing and Demo by RobotShop.com

www.RobotShop.com RobotShop Presents the new Neato XV-11 Vacuum Cleaner. The XV–11 includes revolutionary robotics intelligence that assures that this domestic robot cleans the entire floor, carefully avoiding furniture, walls and other objects. The Neato XV-11 is designed to meticulously clean floors on a daily basis; ensuring owners enjoy neater, healthier homes and more free time for themselves. Using its laser-based Room Positioning System (RPS) Technology, the new robot vacuum cleaner has a 360-degree view of a room, allowing it to map the most efficient cleaning path by analyzing walls, furniture, doorways and other obstacles up to four meters away. It avoids most obstacles that other robots can only detect by impact. Once it outlines the designated area, the Neato XV-11 covers the perimeter first and then methodically cleans inside it using a back-and-forth pattern to ensure complete floor coverage.

  1. To people that don’t know anything about robotics and design, one would think that this robot is smarter than all the rest of the robotic vacuums out there today, but it’s not. It’s not any smarter than any robotic vacuum out there or a cockroach. It just use a different approach in vacuuming using sensors with on board memory.

  2. This thing will leave gaps of unvacuum debris while passing back and forth because the floor on a carpet has different variations of resistance and it’s hard to run a robotic without a brain, perfectly across the floor.

  3. @DrWho2008t101 For sure the Neato uses a different approach to cleaning. However, the design is quite intelligent and that different approach is what makes the Neato stand out.

We agree, no robot vacuum cleaner can do a brute force cleaning like a human can with a shop vac. However, if you want a robot vacuum cleaner that will maintain the cleanliness of your house through regular use – and do a good job too – the Neato is an excellent choice, with it’s scheduling ability and room mapping.

  4. Question is, does it get into corner good? Why would IRobot make a round unit just stupid.

  5. Have you folks done a head-to-head comparison of the Neato and a comparably-priced Roomba? (Our Roomba 560 recently died, so we have a Neato on order from Amazon.com to replace it.)

  6. @DOSBoxMom We will be comparing all robot vacuums shortly with the RobotShop Ultimate Challenge. See the video on our youtube channel. Other videos will be coming soon.

Why buy your Neato from Amazon, when you can get a free 5 year warranty by purchasing it with RobotShop? We expect them very soon.

  7. @RobotShopTV Sorry! We unfortunately hadn’t yet heard of your business when we placed our order with the other vendor. We will definitely keep you in mind for spare parts/filters/etc., though, as well as for “son of Neato” if and when we eventually need to replace our first one. Thanks for the info!

  8. @kduncan1998 Yes it can. The Neato will clean as many rooms as possible on a single charge. The robot can detect doorways so will clean each room entirely before venturing on to the next room. If it needs to recharge, the Neato will return to base to charge and then go back to where it left off to continue cleaning. It will do this twice, so effectively it will perform three cleaning ‘innings’ if needed to
