I used a Panasonic vacuum in my office at work for several years and really liked it, so when our old Sanitaire bit the dust, I decided to buy a Panasonic for home use. This is a commercial model. It comes with no attachments because it’s meant simply for cleaning carpets. If you need attachments, there are other Panasonic models that have them. This machine has excellent suction and is fairly quiet. The bag feeds from the top, so it’s not fighting to push more dirt up from beneath a previous pile. The bag is also very easy to change. The belt is positioned at the side of the roller and protected from foreign objects. It has a 50′ cord, so you can reach multiple rooms without unplugging. I’m very pleased with this vacuum. It’s simple and does what a vacuum should do without costing six or eight hundred dollars like so many brands today.

We’ve owned this model since 2002 and it was used. I’ve never had to change the belt! Did you hear me? I’ve never changed the belt. And I’ve put this up against a lot of different vacuums, all mine, because they’d die but the Panasonic won’t quit. The Pan belonged to my wife, then my girlfriend. We’ve also own a white beagle and two cats with dark carpets yet this machine has out performed 4 different vacuums that were all newer.
Yes, its a pain about changing the bag these days but trust me, its worth it. Plus, you can find the bags online and for a lot cheaper than at any specialty shop in town. Once it stops picking up, change the bag and the difference is night and day.
I don’t always write reviews but when I do, I drink dos equis, I mean, I mean it.

And yes, not having an attachment stinks but the trade off is worth it. I just got one of those rechargeable black and decker one’s.
Anyways, its funny because I’m the one that always tried to get her to get rid of that old thing but turns out it’s been the best all along.
The Panasonic is much quieter than today’s vacuums, in its price range.

    A Simply Superb Vacuum!, August 21, 2012

After 12 years of completely trouble-free ownership of our first Panasonic commercial upright, we needed another vacuum for the second floor of our new home. Lugging these up a flight of stairs every time is a pain, so we looked for a second vacuum. My wife and I were delighted to find that essentially the same vacuum is still available years after our first purchase.

This Panasonic commercial upright works beautifully. The design is simple and exceptionally reliable (over the years, several other manufacturers have copied this Panasonic design). The beater brush does its job well, the edge cleaning is very good, and the suction beats nearly every other brand on the market. It is simple and it works great every time we use it.

We did find a Panasonic hose and accessory kit online for about $30, so we can now take care of all of our upstairs cleaning needs. Also, we tried the Panasonic U-6 Micron bags and they are a genuine improvement over the standard U-3 bags when it comes to capturing fine particles.

This vacuum doesn’t look like R2-D2, so for those who need fancy techno-gadgets, this isn’t the one for you. This Panasonic is truly a commercial grade vacuum, so there is no headlight and it has a heavy-duty 50-foot orange cord with a 3-prong plug. But, if you want a super performing vacuum that is rather light weight with no on-board tools, vacuums exceptionally well, sells for half the price of the competition and will last for years, this Panasonic continues to set the standard.
