What is the best vacuum cleaner for pet hair?

My husband and I recently adopted a dog from a shelter. She is the most amazing dog ever! Nobody is quite sure what breed she is, but she seems to have a medium length coat and is medium size about 40-something pounds and is 9 months old according to her paperwork. We are having major issues vacuuming since we’ve gotten this dog. She sheds to the point where we have to empty the canister half-way through vacuuming our tiny living room! I am looking for recommendations as to what the BEST vacuum is when dealing with pet hair. We’ve decided to invest in the best, a vacuum that will last for many many years, so price is not a big concern, as long as it works well with pet hair! Any advice would be appreciated!
I should specifiy that it is not the canister that gets filled with hair, she doesn’t shed that much or we’d be going to a vet! The issue is that her hair clogs the tube leading to the canister.

  1. there are plenty of good vacuums for this.bissell makes some just for this that work well.one more thing to try is feeding your new family member holistic dog food, and dont use "california natural" because proctor and gamble bought it a while back and they changed the formula, now it sucks but before my german shepherd died,i fed her this and it cut down on shedding to almost nothing. you may want to buy a brush called a "furminator" they are about $60.00 but well worth it,check out petedge.com.
