brandy need help to clarify doubt about: : whats the average rate for someone to clean your house bi-weekly?
my neighbor just called me and asked if I would be interested in cleaning her house every other week. I certainly wanna do it, but I am not sure what to charge. Its a 3 bedroom/ 2 bathroom house and she wants all cleaning done like sweeping, mopping, light laundry, etc. Does anyone know the average rate? Or around about what I should ask her to pay me?

Depends on where you live. Here in some parts of Md. there is an intial fee of 100.00 for the first time and anywhere from 60.00-75.00 for each time after. This is usually weekly. So, if every other week, I’d charge 100.00-120.00

it depends on if you are friends with her or not, and what area you are in. I clean houses as a side job and where i live $ 10.00/ hour is the going rate… at least for the first 6 months or so, after that i go up to $ 12.00/ hour.
I cleaned a home once a week and just did sweeping, mopping, dusting, bathrooms, vaccuum, cleaned kitchen counters but no laundry and no windows and I charged 50$ per cleaning. It of course depends on your state and your best bet would be to call up a cleaning service in the phone book and detail what needs to be done and ask what they would charge then lower your price so your the better deal.
I am a professional house cleaning technician, the square footage is something to take into consideration. If it is a smaller one or two story 3 bed 2 bath, I would charge $ 70.00 and if it is any larger the I would charge up to $ 20.00 more. House cleaning for a living is hard work, and it is definately a LUXURY. Not anyone can afford these services. But.. depnding on how good you are at what you do, DON’T ever sell yourself short. You need to ask questions like, “Will you be supplying the equipment and supplies?” “Would you be interested in weekly services at a more affordable rate”? If she is uncomfortable with the quote you give her, you can always give her an hourly rate of $ 20.00 which is the average hourly rate for a house cleaner and is what I charge if I decide to go hourly. It absolutely depends on where you live, in a big city or a rural town. Our town has a population of around 50,000 and we do maid cleaning either on an hourly rate or a lump sum estimate. I will give you an example of how you can determine a price for your cleaning. Figure up how long it will take you to completely clean one room; such as it usually takes 45 minutes to an hour, of coarse depending on the size of the room, whether it is carpeted or hardwood floors, how much dusting is done, whether there is alot of surfaces cluttered or neat, etc. to do an average living room. Figure a good hour for the kitchen, and approximately 30 to 45 minutes per bath. All depends on the condition that the house is kept. Also is the neighbor going to furnish the supplies to do the cleaning. This is important. If you have to then that needs to be calculated into the price, not all at once but over the entire length of employment. After all of that said, the average is $ 20.00 to $ 25.00 an hour, also depending on where you live. With no interruptions, and depending on how organized and even paced you move, how big the house is, a very estimated guess would be 4 to 6 hours of cleaning and that includes doing the light laundry. I am guessing if she has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms that she has a dining room, living room, kitchen and a couple of other rooms. Do a complete walk thru with her, finding out exactly what she wants done and when you are walking thru jot things down on a paper and mark how long you believe you can do the work in each room. Then take the figures home and start adding up your time and then you will get a better idea of how long it will take you and then you can figure a price according to that. I have a two bedroom (master suites with baths in both), and I give my housekeepers $ 100 a visit, they do everything, including cleaning my fireplace, sweeping both patio and upstairs deck.

You can charge what you like. There’s more to consider than size of house, # of baths, etc. Is the house totally carpeted? Do you have to scrub the floors on your knees? Is there a lot of dusting to do? These things take time. Remember…..this is tax free money….companies charge more.

Wash/wax/polish floors last
In between folding/make beds
Average it out to 4-6 hours bi-weekly
